Following the devastations of war and genocide in my homeland, Rwanda, my family and I made the journey to the United States. In this new chapter of my life, I embarked on a deliberate three-decade-long odyssey to heal, seek peace, and rediscover the fragments of my humanity that were lost.
Encountering healers from diverse traditions—including psychologists, shamans, coaches, and clergy—I received powerful insights, yet these encounters left me with more questions than answers. I pondered who could authentically hold space for the specific healing I sought. Were the answers in the volumes of medical texts held by physicians, or perhaps in the compendia of wisdom and spirituality possessed by indigenous medicine people?
As I waited for the elusive answer, I explored meditation and other avenues of seeking. When all else failed, I immersed myself in the study of the healing arts. Throughout my professional journey, a profound realization dawned on me. Firstly, I discovered that I am the healer and peacemaker I had been searching for. Secondly, I recognized the same potential within each individual, including you!
This empowering understanding has shaped my career, leading me to be the facilitator called to hold space for conversations that bridge our shared humanity—a concept known as ubuntu in my native language, Kinyarwanda.
